The Ultimate Ideal of Swordsmanship
The Ultimate Ideal of Swordsmanship
Even with all the glitches and bugs of K-Style, the game mechanics still operate under sets of rules: Objects and Effects, the build-up of the game; Facing and Defacing, a set of rules that apply to interacting angles between the objects and effects of two players; Sword Ranges and Speeds, understanding the range of the slash effect and the delay of each sword; Animation Cancellation, intercepting an animation with another command or simply dropping it before it completes the animation cycle at various points in its timeline; Delay Minimization, minimizing the delay in between the end of an animation and the start of a new one; Rise and Fall, a concept that explains how each animation starts from idle, raises to a peak, and falls back to idle; Opening the Divine Gate(also explains Animation Freeze), putting the character at a state in between the rise and fall of various animations and commands; etc. Understanding these rules and principles is only the first step toward understanding how to fight, if not, even the fastest players like Monk Stylers will only have speed and range to rely on.
Once you understand the basic physics of the game, you can move on to understanding deeper concepts and principles like Anticipation, as explained in the video below; Baiting, intentionally causing reactions from your opponents and using those reactions against them; Old Man Exits The Zoo, an approach to baiting and positioning; The Massive Game(Lei Tai), how to raise your success rate in a game of gamble; Rich vs Poor Man's approach, play to win or play to not lose; Forward Intent, closing gaps to ensure efficient use of time, space, and energy; etc.
Many players are spoon-fed everything they know, so they never explore, never discover, never create, and never contribute. They know only one thing: how to break things. I've always explained in the game; you can spend years learning a thousand techniques and become a SLAVE to pattern or you can spend months exploring, discovering, understanding, mastering, and applying the rules, concepts, and principles of the game, and become formless, shapeless, like water. Essentially, you are breaking things and putting them back together. The ultimate ideal of swordsmanship is then attained *and revealed in the ultimate expression of oneself and not the simple regurgitation of others' styles-of-play.

The True Essence of Turtling
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
The goal of Turtling is to recoil the opponent. The two foundational rules of achieving this goal is to one; face the opposite side of the direction in which your opponent faces, and two; position your character near or directly in front of your opponent's character. However, in battle, both you and your opponent will be in constant motion; both of your positions on the ground, in the air, and the directions in which both of you face will be ever-changing. For this reason, one must predict, aim, and lead in front of his opponent's positions before he even gets there. It's the same concept as playing with high ping. If you aim a gun at an opponent with 100+ ping and shoot at what you see, your opponent, then all you'll be hitting is his shadow, in other words, nothing. Likewise, a wise Gladiator carefully observes how his opponent moves and positions himself in the future and applies the two rules of Turtling.

Re: The Ultimate Ideal of Swordsmanship
well, he mentioned some basic rules of how the block works and has a good idea of what he's talking about plus, putting in in a perceisive POV but the overall concept isn't something I'd recommend to someone who wants to become high/top.
There's more to it than just holding block at angles. Massives, recoils, patterns etc... Just blocking won't do the trick because it's the OPPONENT who hits your block which requires not just patience but also focus is involved and not blindly mashing the block key towards specific angles since that's a waste of time.
Since a handful are above low tier in this forum it's gonna help those nubs dorichi brought in with him(and roma cuz he cant block for sh*t).
